Position Highlights:
Position Title: Case and Contact Investigator (Epidemiologist I)
Location: Remote
Position End Date: 7/31/26
Salary: $85,000

Overview:
The CDC Foundation is seeking an Epidemiologist I Case and Contact Investigator to work under the direction of the Epi Investigation Lead. This position involves planning, developing, and performing epidemiologic investigations, surveillance work, and small-scale targeted interventions to identify sources of illness and implement control strategies. Findings will be communicated to the team through established channels. The role may require working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, during emergency response situations.

Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of epidemiologic study design, data collection, data analysis, and data interpretation.
• Understanding of standard descriptive statistical techniques.
• Ability to establish and sustain effective working relationships.
• Strong background in biostatistics, including experience with statistical software and programming languages.
• Strong computer skills, including database design, management, and data processing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities:
• Supports data collection and statistical analysis of disease trends, medical assessments, laboratory results, and related information to identify patterns, inform prevention or containment strategies, and develop technical reports.
• Assists in tracking disease outbreaks and reviewing proposed control actions. Helps assess disease prevention programs in healthcare facilities, child care centers, nursing homes, and other settings, and offers recommendations for improvement.
• Addresses inquiries from healthcare providers and the public concerning communicable or environmental health issues.
• Participates in investigations of environmental exposures to determine potential health impacts, conducts health surveys, and offers health education guidance.
• Contributes to the development of public presentations about disease risks, outbreaks, and prevention strategies.
• Helps design, carry out, and assess demographic, environmental, and epidemiologic studies related to public health topics to determine risk factors, population characteristics, and prevention approaches.
• Assists with requests for public presentations regarding communicable or environmental health risks, outbreaks, and control activities.

Special Notes:
This position supports a developing public health program, and responsibilities may change as needs evolve. Any modifications to the duties will be confirmed in writing by both the CDC Foundation and the South Carolina Department of Public Health to ensure alignment with state priorities.

The role is currently remote, but the CDC Foundation may revise this as needed.
