The Role of a Business Management Director at Coupa:

Coupa is looking for a highly disciplined, adaptable Business Management Director to act as a strategic partner to the CFO. In this role, you will design and manage the operating model for the Office of the CFO, ensuring that the leadership teams across Finance, IT, Data, Legal, Corporate Development, and Deal Operations stay aligned with the company’s top priorities.

The ideal candidate brings a consulting-oriented background, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, work effectively with complex stakeholder groups, and convert the CFO’s agenda into a clear, high-impact plan. You will enhance the CFO’s effectiveness by overseeing initiative prioritization, driving accountability for execution, and ensuring strategic outcomes are achieved.

What You’ll Do:

• Operating Model and Strategic Rhythm: Build and formalize the “Finance Operating System,” a governance structure that provides full visibility across the global organization. This includes managing the strategic calendar and leading leadership business reviews.

• Prioritization and Outcome Ownership: Drive the process for identifying and ranking the most critical projects across Finance. Move beyond task management to take responsibility for delivering measurable business results, including P&L impact and efficiency improvements.

• Cross-Functional Advocacy: Represent the Office of the CFO in company-wide programs. Ensure Finance’s initiatives support broader business priorities and anticipate the needs of other teams.

• Executive Sponsorship Program: Create and manage a consistent process for the CFO’s involvement as an executive sponsor for key accounts, including objectives, preparation, and follow-up.

• Board Governance: Oversee the full process for preparing Board and Audit Committee materials, working with leaders to ensure all presentations deliver a clear, unified story.

• Initiative Health and ROI Visibility: Before Board meetings or QBRs, conduct in-depth reviews of major initiatives. Maintain executive dashboards that show real-time program status and transformation ROI.

• Strategic Time and Focus Management: Review and manage the CFO’s schedule to ensure time is directed toward the highest-impact strategic priorities.

• Diagnostic Problem Solving: Lead deep analyses of underperforming processes. Turn scattered data into actionable insights and executive-ready briefs that clarify key issues for the CFO.

• Multidisciplinary Project Leadership: Manage complex, urgent initiatives requiring cross-functional collaboration. Apply a consulting mindset to quickly learn new topics and guide diverse teams toward shared goals.

What You’ll Bring:

• Consulting Orientation: Over 10 years of experience in roles such as Management Consulting, Business Operations, or Strategy where you solved varied business challenges and delivered results in complex environments.

• High Emotional Intelligence: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and influence senior leaders across functions without direct authority.

• Flexibility and Adaptability: Able to move fluently between high-level strategy and detailed execution; a hands-on operator comfortable wearing many hats.

The estimated salary range for this role is $152,000 to $198,000.
The starting salary will depend on allowable, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, and location.
