Piton Labs is hiring a full-time Senior Software Engineer. We’re looking for someone comfortable with full-stack development, with especially strong backend skills. Ideally, you’ll also have solid experience with cloud infrastructure. Experience with startups—either as a founder or as part of an early team—is a plus. We strongly prefer candidates located between GMT-8 (US West Coast) and GMT-3, though candidates in other time zones may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

At Piton Labs, you’ll work with startups and large organizations to tackle their most complex technical challenges. You’ll deal with the uncertainty and complexity that come with software development, helping clients build products and also clarify what should be built. Instead of simply taking tasks from a backlog, you’ll help set priorities and focus on solving the highest-value problems for our clients.

We’re generally technology-agnostic, but most of our projects use TypeScript, React, and Go. We typically build cloud infrastructure on AWS, although some clients use other providers. You should have at least five years of experience with widely used web application stacks, relational databases, and modern frontend technologies. Experience with the tools we mentioned is helpful but not required. It’s important that you can consistently deliver reliable, well-tested code over time.

A typical week may include:

– Building complex user interfaces for web or mobile applications
– Designing and developing a serverless API layer for a new product
– Creating and deploying cloud architecture using infrastructure-as-code tools
– Presenting new features to client stakeholders

You’re self-directed and love to code. You enjoy solving problems and continuously expanding your technical skills. You should have the following traits:

– Pragmatism: focus on solving problems and delivering value, innovating when needed
– Autonomy: ability to take full ownership of a product or feature, with a clear understanding of both technical and collaboration aspects
– Deep experience: at least five years in the field, with exposure to diverse projects and a commitment to continuous improvement
– Adaptability: ability to evolve with new technologies without being limited by a specialization

Remote work policy:

– Fully remote team, with no physical office
– Highest priority for candidates with legal authorization to work in the United States
– Next priority for candidates based in Canada, Uruguay, or Paraguay
– Required 4 to 6 hours of overlap with US Eastern time on most days
– Digital nomads are welcome, with flexibility on location

Why join us:

– Competitive salary: $140,000 USD for candidates based in the US
– Significant quarterly profit sharing, typically between $2,500 and $5,000
– Four weeks of paid vacation
– Fully remote work, permanently
– Strong work-life balance—you’ll work with fast-growing startups without sacrificing your weekends
– A flexible, autonomous culture with very few meetings and trust in your ability to deliver results
