At Protective Life, the Retirement Claims team plays an essential part in assisting policyholders and beneficiaries during key financial events. As a Retirement Claims Specialist, you will oversee Annuity and Life claims from the initial report through final resolution, ensuring every case is handled accurately, efficiently, and with care.
This position requires strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, careful attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex claims with urgency. You will be responsible for your claim portfolio, work closely with internal partners, and communicate effectively with customers and providers throughout the process. Success in this role means delivering consistent, high‑quality service, adhering to regulatory standards, and creating a smooth, respectful experience for everyone involved.
Job Responsibilities:
• Collaborate within a team to support a variety of complex Annuity and Life claim transactions and related problem‑solving
• Respond to customer and provider inquiries and resolve issues accurately and professionally
• Deliver clear, precise information across multiple companies and insurance products
• Assist customers with diverse needs and communication styles while maintaining strong service standards
• Review, process, and approve Annuity and Life claims up to $500,000 in line with company policies
• Participate in cross‑training assignments to support team flexibility
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls throughout all claim activities
• Perform other duties and special projects as needed
Qualifications:
• Experience/Education: At least 1 year in annuities, retirement, or finance, or a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
• Production Environment: Minimum of 6 months meeting production goals in a fast‑paced environment
• Skills: Strong communication, customer service, teamwork, and problem‑solving abilities
• Adaptability & Technical Skills: Able to learn multiple systems, work with diverse customers, and adapt to change
• Ownership & Standards: Maintain productivity and quality above team expectations while ensuring consistent communication and service
Salary Range: $47,500 to $60,000 annually
Actual pay may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This range is one part of the total compensation package, which also includes annual incentive opportunities based on individual and company performance.
