About the role:
We are looking for a committed Renewals Manager with a strong background in sales and account management, ideally within open source or similar enterprise software environments. In this role, you will be essential to maintaining the success and satisfaction of our current customers by managing contract renewals and identifying opportunities for account growth. This position is well suited for a sales professional who has supported customer retention for early‑stage enterprise products in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment. As a Renewals Manager, you will play a key part in our growth strategy and directly support the stability and expansion of our recurring revenue.
What you will be doing:
• Create and execute a renewal strategy aimed at maximizing retention and uncovering upsell and cross‑sell opportunities within existing accounts.
• Partner with account executives to ensure a smooth renewal experience by understanding customer needs and aligning our solutions with them.
• Engage several quarters ahead of renewal dates to ensure customers are prepared, collaborate with account teams and partners, review customer health data, identify renewal risks, and support corrective actions to secure renewals.
• Identify and pursue expansion opportunities, driving them to completion or involving the appropriate account teams to maximize outcomes.
• Serve as the main point of contact for all renewal‑related questions, building strong customer relationships that foster loyalty to Kong.
• Conduct account reviews and planning to accurately forecast renewals, detect at‑risk accounts early, and develop strategies to prevent churn.
• Use customer feedback and renewal insights to help inform product improvements.
• Represent Kong with professionalism, offering excellent support and guidance throughout the renewal process.
• Complete additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
What you will bring:
• A sincere dedication to helping customers realize value from their investment in Kong.
• At least 2 years of experience in sales, sales development, or account management, preferably in enterprise software; familiarity with open source, APIs, or infrastructure software is a plus.
• Proven success in nurturing and expanding customer relationships, with a strong emphasis on retention.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities, with the skill to manage expectations and close renewals effectively.
• A goal‑oriented mindset driven by meeting and surpassing targets.
• Strong analytical abilities for tracking and forecasting renewal metrics, along with strategic thinking to identify growth opportunities within existing accounts.

Compensation:

Kong’s base pay ranges vary by U.S. location to ensure competitive and consistent compensation across regions. Actual pay depends on factors such as location, role, skills, and experience. Some roles may qualify for additional incentives, including sales bonuses. Benefits may differ by location. U.S. employees typically receive healthcare benefits, a 401(k), disability coverage, and life and AD&D insurance. The typical U.S. pay range for this role is $150k–$170k OTE.
