We’re seeking a Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll work closely with skilled engineers and help build products that support Talkiatry’s growth and expanding services.
We value engineers who focus on outcomes and product impact, and who want to help shape a strong engineering culture through cross-functional teamwork. The ideal candidate has experience leading projects from the ground up—from gathering requirements to creating clear development plans with the right architecture and tooling.
About Talkiatry:
Talkiatry is transforming psychiatry through accessible, compassionate, and responsible care. Founded by a patient and a triple‑board‑certified psychiatrist, we are a national mental health practice dedicated to solving barriers that keep patients from receiving quality treatment and clinicians from providing it.
Every year, 60% of adults in the U.S. with a diagnosable mental health condition go untreated due to access issues. At the same time, 45% of clinicians remain out of network because of low reimbursement rates and excessive administrative work. Using innovative technology and a human‑centered approach, we ensure patients receive the care they need while allowing psychiatrists to focus on practicing medicine.
You Will:
• Help develop features and user stories for clinical applications using established design patterns and best practices.
• Write dependable, observable, and maintainable code with strong test coverage and performance monitoring.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of integrations with third‑party providers to ensure secure clinical data exchange via APIs.
• Join team discussions to assess technical trade-offs, share insights, and collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Work with product, design, clinical, and operations teams to deliver meaningful solutions.
• Take ownership of tasks across the entire software development lifecycle.
• Communicate technical requirements and decisions clearly to varied audiences.
You Have:
• 1–4 years of experience as a software engineer with solid full‑stack development skills.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and React, with a track record of creating high‑quality, maintainable front-end and back-end work.
• Familiarity with agile methods like Scrum, Kanban, and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience writing scalable, maintainable code using appropriate design patterns.
• Knowledge of common frameworks and tools, including testing frameworks such as Jest.
• Bonus: Experience with Next.js or Nest.js for server-side development.
Additional “Bonus” Qualities:
• Technical excellence and a commitment to continuous learning as the field evolves.
• A “strong opinions, loosely held” mindset—able to weigh trade-offs and adapt solutions to context.
• A collaborative approach that ensures everyone is included and empowered.
• A focus on outcomes over outputs, prioritizing simple, effective solutions.
Why Talkiatry:
• A top-tier, diverse team committed to improving mental health care.
• A collaborative environment where you can help build from the ground up in a fast‑paced startup.
• Flexible work options: remote anywhere in the U.S. or onsite at our NYC headquarters.
• Comprehensive benefits starting day one: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, generous PTO, holidays, parental leave, and more.
• Opportunities to grow your career and skill set as Talkiatry expands.
• A culture rooted in care—we prioritize the well-being of both our patients and our team.
Salary range: $135,000–$155,000 per year.
Compensation includes equity and varies based on role, location, experience, qualifications, skills, and certifications.
Talkiatry participates in E‑Verify and will provide your Form I‑9 information to the federal government after you accept an offer and complete the form.
We are an equal opportunity employer dedicated to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace. We aim to foster belonging and learn from each team member’s unique background.
We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital or family status, disability, gender identity or expression, pregnancy or caregiver status, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
