About You

We’re looking for a React front-end developer who wants to help advance a range of social and sustainability causes by giving people dependable, practical information. The ideal candidate is a self-driven remote professional who’s eager to get into the details of browser extension best practices and will work closely with our dedicated startup team to help take our software to the next level.

Job Description

The Front-End Engineer will work with our internal and contract engineering teams to lead front-end development efforts that increase the value of our browser extension and broaden our measurable impact. This will involve exploring new approaches, digital products, and online spaces that support our mission.

This role requires strong communication, collaboration, and business skills, along with front-end technical experience. Although the focus is on front-end techniques and frameworks, we’d also like someone interested in filling any gaps in backend, API, or database knowledge—supported by our Back-End Developer.

Responsibilities

– Collaborate with leadership on product strategy, roadmaps, priorities, architecture, and product enhancements
– Research and recommend the latest technologies that could provide a competitive edge
– Work with a UX designer to review and implement UI/UX designs
– Provide estimates for timelines, tasks, risks, impacts, progress, and delivery requirements
– Build new features for Consciously’s browser extension, API, database, and related ecosystem
– Oversee system delivery and release functionality
– Create and maintain documentation as needed
– Follow and represent Consciously’s company policies and practices

Day-to-Day

– Write reusable code and build libraries for future use
– Track KPIs and user metrics to evaluate technological performance
– Optimize Consciously’s software and integrations for speed and scalability
– Develop and manage quality assurance and data protection processes
– Troubleshoot issues and fix bugs

Qualifications

– Strong communication, collaboration, and team leadership skills
– 2+ years of front-end React development experience, with some backend experience considered a plus
– Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations
– Experience building distributed, scalable systems and high-volume applications
– Bachelor’s degree preferred

Required Experience

– 5+ years of JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model
– 2+ years of React experience
– Client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks
– Basic knowledge of image authoring tools
– WordPress experience is a plus

Preferred Experience

Strong skills in:

– Web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3
– CSS preprocessing platforms
– PHP and WordPress
– Metrics tracking tools such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.
– Integrating with e-commerce marketplaces and APIs (Amazon, Walmart, etc.)
– Browser extension and page scraping techniques
