The company’s flagship product, the D-Wave 2X, is built around a novel superconducting quantum processor designed to exploit quantum resources known to offer large computational speedups on some problems. The D-Wave adiabatic quantum computer is able to sample from probability distributions and optimize functions that are computationally intractable using classical hardware. D-Wave Systems are currently being used by customers such as Lockheed, NASA and Google. D-Wave has appeared in Time Magazine, MIT Technology Review, Forbes, INC Magazine and Wired. Position Description: D-Wave is seeking a Software Engineer to support the users of our quantum computer and to prototype demonstration applications. You willact as the first line of support for D-Wave’s users and work with D-Wave’s applications and software engineering teams to write computer software that implements combinatorial optimization, sampling and machine learning using D-Wave’s quantum computer systems. You’ll report to the Director of Professional Services. In this position, youwill work remotely with 6 months of initial training and frequent trips to our head office located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Responsibilities Include: Technical

  • Develop software to apply quantum computing hardware for customer applications

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the applications, features and workflows relevant to running jobs on quantum hardware

  • Work in conjunction with the algorithms research team to incorporate their expertise into software projects

  • Use best software engineering practices

Customer

  • Act as technical lead or participant on customer projects

  • Site visits with customers; present at technical exchange meetings

  • Establish warm customer relationships at both technical and business levels; collect customer input; flag issues; and ensure timely resolution

Knowledge Base

  • Help develop software tools to benefit customers and facilitate technical communications in sales

  • Under the direction of the Director of Professional Services: build, maintain and enhance D-Waves library of reference examples and applications that demonstrate use cases for D-Wave’s quantum computer hardware

  • Write documentation and manage version control for your software projects

  • Create product installation, access manuals, and setup guidelines

  • Make recommendations on procedures that will generate more effective and efficient installation and access

Sales and Marketing Support

  • Identify promising areas for future development through interaction with D-Wave customers

  • Create supporting collateral materials to assist the business development team in demonstrating applicability of D-Wave technology to prospective customers

  • Provide support to sales and marketing with regard to promotion or sales intiatives

  • Willingness to travel across North America; future international travel is anticipated. Estimated travel 50% of the time

  • Remain organized and work productively in a distributed team environment
