We are looking for passionate 3D Tools Developer to work on custom versions of MODO. Specifically we are looking for Python Engineers with experience in working with 3D systems and pipelines. You will be familiar with vector and matrix maths, projections, and ideally various rendering technologies. You will have solid experience of expanding existing 3D Graphics Tools (ideally but not necessarily including MODO), writing plugins, and interfacing tools into pipelines. Knowledge of and experience with various 3D file formats, modelling and rigging will be highly advantageous. You will be leveraging this experience to allow design customers to interface with MODO, wrapping the intricacies of 3D design in an intuitive and tactile interface.

Excellent communication skills will also be a large benefit. Much of your initial development time will be spent communicating with the existing MODO Developers around the world, learning systems and digging into the many ways of achieving results within the software framework. You will also be expected to communicate directly with clients and designers, helping to discover their requirements, and investigating efficient workflows to achieve the desired design results.

As an Engineer at The Foundry you will contribute to Foundry projects by writing code, authoring automated tests, and playing a part in the planning and delivering of releases. For the specific project we are recruiting for you will need a thorough knowledge of the Python programming language, with solid experience of writing and maintaining a codebase for multiple platforms.

In the course of general duties your tasks will include:

  • Time estimates: You will facilitate project planning by providing effort estimates for tasks assigned to you by the lead engineer. You will be expected to deliver on goals in a timely manner and provide regular progress updates.

  • Documentation: You will be expected to document your work clearly and concisely in the source.
