The CDC Foundation is seeking an intern to conduct an environmental analysis focused on public health workforce recruitment and skills development programming. This work will help shape the Workforce Services strategic plan as the CDC Foundation works to “strengthen the public health system to protect us all.” The Workforce Services team will provide guidance, set clear project objectives and goals, and hold regular check-ins to review progress.
Tasks and Responsibilities
– Work 20 hours per week during the summer session.
– Follow the assigned work schedule and report to the internship site at the agreed-upon time.
– Meet weekly with the internship liaison to discuss project progress and internship goals.
– Follow CDC Foundation policies and procedures related to professional conduct and dress code.
– Promptly and reasonably notify the internship liaison of any issues that arise, including concerns about underwhelming deliverables.
– Provide relevant forms and evaluations to the internship liaison, complete them as required, and ensure follow-up so they are submitted on time.
Primary Activities
– Conduct an environmental scan to support development of a SWOT analysis for public health workforce recruitment and staffing initiatives within Workforce Services.
– Identify current challenges affecting the public health workforce.
– Conduct a market study of public health staffing providers.
– Identify and develop staffing structures to support the management and implementation of a large workforce program, including reviewing existing CDC Foundation staffing structures and proposing or creating new structures.
– Produce a final report that includes findings and recommendations, and present it to Workforce Services leadership.
Required Qualifications and Skills
– Undergraduate or graduate student studying management, public health, public administration, nonprofit management, or a related field.
– Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
– Strong written and oral communication skills, along with strong technical skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
– Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
– Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.
