The Koch Internship Program is a paid, 12‑week hands-on learning experience offered through Stand Together Fellowships, giving interns the chance to work with nonprofits across the United States that are addressing major national issues. Applicants must be located in the U.S. and authorized to work in the country for the full length of the program.

During the internship, participants gain practical professional experience with a partner organization and take part in development programming that includes a two‑day, in‑person summit at Stand Together’s headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, along with virtual sessions held every other Thursday from 1 to 3:30 p.m. ET. Interns receive either a $7,500 stipend for full‑time work (40 hours per week) or $5,500 for part‑time work (24 hours per week).

Stand Together Fellowships’ programming centers on three goals:
1. Exploring the core principles of a free society, including individual liberty, limited government, free markets, and the rule of law.
2. Learning about Stand Together’s vision and principles for societal change and how a principled approach can help solve major challenges.
3. Highlighting career paths that contribute to advancing liberty and a free society.

Applicants who move forward will interview with both the partner organizations and Stand Together Fellowships staff, so early applications are encouraged.

All interns must be available every Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. ET for virtual training, as well as for the in‑person summit in Arlington, Virginia on June 3–4.

The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) is the nation’s largest nonpartisan, voluntary membership organization of state legislators committed to limited government, free markets, and federalism. Representing nearly one‑quarter of state lawmakers and millions of Americans, ALEC provides a platform for experts to address key business and economic issues. Its model policy library and publications offer practical, research‑driven ideas aimed at reducing costs, improving government efficiency, and promoting economic freedom.

ALEC’s public affairs team engages thousands of legislators each year and reaches millions of Americans with messages rooted in limited government, free markets, and federalism.

Public Affairs interns contribute directly to outreach campaigns and report releases targeted toward influencers, lawmakers, and the media. Those with backgrounds in political science or journalism may work on report launches, op‑eds, letters to the editor, and speechwriting. Interns with digital advocacy, marketing, or videography experience will also play important roles.

The ideal candidate is interested in strategic communication, outreach, and engagement, and has relevant coursework or experience in political science, public relations, marketing, or creative fields such as graphic design or video production.

Compensation ranges from $5,500 to $7,500 per year.

Stand Together Fellowships values diversity of experience and perspective and treats all applicants with respect. The program welcomes qualified candidates from all backgrounds and does not discriminate on any legally protected basis.
