The Senior Property Accountant compiles and maintains financial reports, records, and general ledgers; produces and reviews budgets; and performs general bookkeeping for properties owned and managed by the company. Primary Job Responsibilities
Full Cycle Property Accounting:
- Full cycle monthly, quarterly and annual accounting of operating real estate portfolio and development projects, including acquisition and disposition entries
- Cash reconciliation and cash management cycle for multiple bank accounts
- Yardi lease administration, tenant ledger maintenance, and CAM reconciliations
Equity and Asset Management:
- Maintain loan management, investor preferred return, and real estate investment schedules
- Maintain CIP for construction projects
- Reconcile investor equity schedule to accounting records
- Preparation of partnership distribution
Audit & Tax:
- Annual tax GAAP/tax/equity reconciliations and tax support
- Annual audit PBC and audit support
Other:
- Ability to travel to Austin, TX occasionally. Post-pandemic we anticipate it could be up to quarterly at max, but no more.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excels at working with a diverse group of people
- Yardi experience is preferred
- Working knowledge of internal controls and risk mitigation
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Word, including Pivots, VLOOKUP, etc.
- Displays a high level of self-motivation, ability to multi-task, and thrives in a deadline-oriented environment
- Ability to take the initiative in solving routine and advanced problems
Education
- BS degree in accounting or finance is required
- 3 -5+ years property accounting experience with retail, office, and mixed-use properties
- Public accounting experience strongly preferred
Physical Demands
- Required to sit for long periods of time.
- Required to lift files (up to 15 lbs), open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
- Usual office working conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
