Programmer/analyst
At TLT, we are looking for a Ruby on Rails developer to help us imagine and build things that spark incredible teaching and learning experiences. As part of a small, agile development team, you’ll have the opportunity to shape a product from its earliest days in a fun, flexible environment. You should be able to show us that you’ve built, tested, optimized and scaled Ruby on Rails applications and web services that are a delight to use in every way: fast, straightforward, elegant and powerful.
You should be prepared to deal with: RESTful JSON APIs; semantic HTML; JavaScript frameworks (AngularJS, Backbone); CSS/SASS; SQL and relational database systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL); and test-driven development. Bonus points if you light up when you think about one or more of the following: micro-credentialing, reputation and recommendations systems, social learning systems, complex taxonomies, learning platforms, web accessibility, and the details that make or break the user experience. You put metrics to work for you; you can tell an actionable metric from a fluffy one. You have experience with other languages and frameworks and may have even developed for platforms like iPhone, Android, and Facebook. This position is eligible for working remotely, relocation to central Pennsylvania is not necessary. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate’s competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate’s degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Bachelor’s Degree and additional experience preferred.
