Essential Job Functions:
Empathize equally with customer needs, sales goals and architectural investments while always ensuring the product is strategically differentiated within the market
Understand the value of selling, and building high-margin products to balance both short and long term bottom lines for DataStax and our customers
Deliver immaculate verbal, written and visual artifacts for a wide spectrum of internal and external audiences to garner cohesive engagement towards product goals
Navigate iterative product releases to achieve strategic business goals, while holding firm in the face of short term requirements from customers and sales personnel
Partner with sales teams to succeed at a wide spectrum of customer accounts
Maintain cross functional commitments within the company by being the “go-to” leader for all product aspects during complete software development life cycle
Tactful engagement of sales, marketing and customer personnel http://w.r.to messaging of product roadmaps, features and releases
A passion to succeed in a deeply competitive market environment, along side a high performing, continuously learning team with a no-nonsense attitude
Ability to work fluently with Agile software engineering development and QA teams utilizing tools such as JIRA, Confluence, etc.
Deep understanding of distributed systems, data access mechanisms, related architectural paradigms and their inherent trade-offs
Job Requirements:
10+ years of experience across product management and/or engineering for products based on core distributed systems principles
5+ years of 360 degree product management experience, including market research, positioning, roadmap planning, delivering PRDs/MRDs, and product evangelizing
Proven expertise to synthesize customer requirements, field inputs and market positioning, into concise requirements for R&D teams via MRD/FS artifacts
Track record of leading a few products through market validation, inception, buy/partner/build decisions, engineering delivery and EOL/EOS lifecycle phases
In-depth understanding of the entire spectrum of data modeling and storage (software and hardware) for highly scalable operational, near realtime and BI systems
Experience building and delivering strategic data access mechanisms including languages / drivers and APIs/SDKs
MS in Computer Science, EE or related field
Prefered Qualifications:
MBA from a reputed university with its learnings applied towards product success
An entrepreneurial DNA combined with high integrity and collaborative approach
Exposure scaling products, teams and technologies in a competitive marketplace
Business and ROI acumen http://w.r.to on-premise and hosted (cloud) deployments
Understanding of Big Data technologies – NoSQL platforms, and Hadoop Ecosystem
Tangible prior exposure with Cassandra, Spark, or Hadoop is a huge plus
