As a Principal Software Engineer, you will serve as one of the most senior technical leaders defining the future of our AI-driven product ecosystem. Your work will range from designing the core architecture for next‑generation agentic and AI-powered experiences to scaling our platform for millions of users worldwide. Reporting to the SVP of Engineering and working closely with our Distinguished Engineer, you will help set technical direction across a wide horizontal product landscape, support dozens of engineering teams, and build systems from initial concepts to production-ready versions. This position combines high-level architectural leadership with hands-on coding, solving large-scale technical challenges and delivering capabilities that will shape the company’s next phase.

Primary Duties:
• Design and architect complex systems and make high‑impact technical decisions.
• Develop innovative solutions to difficult technical challenges.
• Mentor engineers and champion engineering best practices.
• Align technical strategy with business objectives through cross-functional collaboration.
• Contribute to long-term technical roadmaps and strategic planning.
• Assess emerging technologies and lead innovation efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:
• BS/BTech or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of hands-on engineering experience building scalable production systems.
• 6+ years serving as a trusted technical decision-maker balancing short‑ and long‑term business needs.
• 4+ years of experience using SQL or similar querying languages with large multi-table datasets.
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong experience with server-side technologies such as Java, Python, Scala, C#, C++, or Go.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• 10+ years architecting and scaling reliable backend or platform systems for millions of users.
• Proven experience leading V0, V1, and V2 architecture and delivery across large engineering teams.
• Strong background in designing or implementing AI-enabled features and translating them into scalable, user-facing products.
• Experience building platform and API ecosystems that support wide horizontal product areas.
• Deep expertise with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), event streaming technologies such as Kafka, and large-scale database systems.
• Advanced proficiency with containerization/orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience building systems for scale, high availability, and security, especially involving sensitive or regulated data.
• Familiarity with database replication, sharding, and other distributed systems techniques.
• Ability to mentor senior engineering talent and guide architectural decisions across multiple teams.
• Proven ability to evaluate and adopt new technologies to support company-wide technical strategy.

Physical Requirements:
• Extended periods of sitting, extensive computer and keyboard use, with occasional walking and lifting as needed.
