Steer is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer with extensive production Kubernetes experience to join our Platform Engineering Team responsible for designing and implementing our infrastructure in Kubernetes, improving our monitoring and alerting, working with application engineers to find and implement the right solutions, and ensuring uptime, resilience and scalability in response to surging product usage.
You Will
Manage and deploy cloud-based environments for all stages of application development and testing
Build deployment tooling to allow our application developers greater autonomy and self service
Find and mitigate application, cloud and network vulnerabilities and bottlenecks. Not only suggest improvements, but champion investment in those improvements
Develop and deploy CI/CD automation infrastructure using Github Actions, Flux
Ensure appropriate application and infrastructure logging and monitoring to maintain highest possible uptime
Monitor system components and application processing to proactively identify incidents, resolve issues, and lead incident support / root cause analysis
You have
Must have
7+ years of Platform Engineering/DevOps/System administration
4+ years extensive demonstrable Kubernetes experience: designing, deploying and operating complex production environments using advanced cloud native tools
5+ years public cloud experience: AWS (preferred), GCP, Azure
4+ years extensive Terraform experience, including managing large infrastructures, writing modules, refactoring manifests
3+ years programming experience in a modern programming language: Go (preferred), Python, plus shell scripting proficiency
Worked with mission-critical, 24/7 production environments
Nice to have
Extensive CI/CD knowledge, implementing software build and deployment pipelines, advanced deployment patterns
Very good knowledge of infrastructure, application, and system security practices
GitOps experience (FluxCD, ArgoCD)
Hands-on experience with some/all of MongoDB, RabbitMQ, Redis, Postgres, Vault, service meshes, API gateways, etc.
Hands-on monitoring experience with modern tools and services, e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK/EFK, CloudWatch, DataDog, NewRelic
Good understanding of distributed systems
Agile software development methodologies experience
