About the Role:
The Phlebotomy Quality Director serves as Getlabs’ expert on phlebotomy quality standards, regulatory compliance, and clinical best practices. This leader drives continuous improvement, collaborates closely with Operations and company leadership, and ensures an exceptional patient experience by reducing clinical errors and keeping internal redraw rates at or below 1%.
This role requires a proactive leader who can evaluate trends, implement corrective actions, design targeted training, and cultivate a strong quality culture across regions and teams.
What you will do – Quality, Compliance, and Investigations
• Develop, manage, and refine quality programs, processes, and SOPs in alignment with regulatory standards and partner expectations (CLSI, CLIA, CAP)
• Lead root-cause investigations for phlebotomy errors, oversee corrective actions, and ensure effectiveness checks are completed within 48 business hours
• Oversee internal and external audits, resolve findings, prepare partner-facing responses to complaints and nonconformance issues, and ensure regulatory compliance
• Flag high-risk draws and identify potential issues during onboarding to prevent errors
• Maintain monthly Quality Specialist scorecards, review KPIs, and support development planning
• Analyze clinical data, track KPIs, report on trends, and use insights to improve patient care and operational performance
• Guide cross-functional quality initiatives and collaborate with senior leadership and field operations
• Lead quality improvement efforts; refine SOPs and enhance processes to improve safety, accuracy, and efficiency
• Identify and mitigate clinical risks, ensure readiness for new partner launches and trials, and uphold high standards of patient care
What you will do – Training and Education
• Train new hires and provide retraining based on trends, audits, or partner feedback
• Develop and deliver targeted training informed by clinical issues, trend analyses, and audit findings
• Manage ongoing continuing education programs and coordinate with other Quality Managers to maintain consistency across regions
What you will do – Data, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement
• Collect, analyze, and report on quality trends, risks, outliers, and mitigation strategies
• Prepare weekly quality summaries and present insights and recommendations to Operations leadership every two weeks
• Use data to identify and implement proactive improvements that reduce redraws, prevent errors, and strengthen operations
What you will do – Collaboration and Leadership
• Partner with Operations Managers and Supervisors to reduce clinical errors and maintain redraw rates at or below 1%
• Lead Quality Review Meetings and support cross-functional process improvement efforts
• Provide coaching and drive corrective action conversations with phlebotomists and supervisors when needed
• Collaborate with executive leadership to develop policies and SOPs and ensure organization-wide compliance
• Build strong relationships with partner laboratories, including Labcorp, Quest, and Sonora Quest
• Participate actively in the Quality Council and strategic planning
• Champion a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement
What we are looking for – Experience and Certifications
• 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Management, ideally in mobile phlebotomy or a clinical environment
• 5+ years of hands-on phlebotomy experience
• 3+ years of supervisory or people management experience
• Active phlebotomy certification (AMT, ASCP, or NCCT)
• Knowledge of CLSI standards and CLIA/CAP regulations
