**The Role**
Ro’s iOS app helps more than 300,000 monthly active patients manage their care. The app consistently ranks among the top 10 medical apps in the App Store and maintains a 4.7★ rating with thousands of reviews. We’re seeking a Senior iOS Engineer to join Ro’s Patient Experience team and help shape the future of our mobile healthcare platform.
In this role, you will design, build, and maintain high-quality iOS applications that connect patients to seamless, personalized care. You’ll lead efforts to improve the Ro mobile experience—enabling patients to manage health goals, communicate with providers, and access treatment through intuitive, high-performing, and secure native interfaces.
As part of a small, high-impact iOS team, you’ll have significant influence over the app’s architecture, technical direction, and quality standards. You’ll work closely with product, design, and data teams to deliver delightful user experiences at scale, owning initiatives end to end—from technical exploration and implementation through iteration and improvements in production. You’ll also help establish mobile engineering best practices across the company. Additionally, you’ll bring your perspective to improving team workflows, tooling, and development practices, strengthening a culture of ownership, iteration, and continuous improvement.

**What You’ll Do**
– Drive the architecture, design, and implementation of new features in Ro’s iOS app, supporting thousands of users daily.
– Create real-time, visually engaging, and accessible experiences that help patients accomplish health goals and manage care smoothly.
– Partner with design, product, and backend engineers to influence the roadmap and shape Ro’s native mobile experience.
– Own iOS app technical quality by defining and enforcing best practices for testing, observability, accessibility, and performance optimization.
– Identify and address opportunities to improve app performance, scalability, and developer productivity.
– Help shape the architectural direction of Ro’s mobile ecosystem, including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and release management.
– Mentor teammates through code reviews, pairing, and design discussions, promoting a culture of learning and technical excellence.
**What You’ll Bring to the Team**
– 5+ years of experience building and shipping iOS apps at scale, with a focus on elegant, user-centered interfaces.
– Strong proficiency in Swift, Swift Concurrency, and SwiftUI, along with solid knowledge of app architecture, performance optimization, and accessibility.
– Deep experience with multithreading, async/await, memory management, and unit testing.
– Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and App Store release workflows.
– Proven ability to collaborate across functions, working effectively with designers, product managers, and backend teams.
– A strong sense of ownership, from technical design and implementation through post-release monitoring and iteration.
– Genuine focus on user experience, with the ability to quickly choose the right visual approach to meet product and design goals.
– Passion for continuous learning and for applying modern mobile engineering practices to improve team quality and user experience.
– Experience mentoring or guiding other engineers through technical leadership or peer coaching.
**Bonus Skills**
– Experience in telehealth or other highly regulated industries.
– Experience transforming monolithic applications into distributed asynchronous services.
The target base salary for this position is $182,300 to $220,000, plus a competitive equity and benefits package (as applicable). Compensation is determined by analyzing factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, which may result in variation.
Ro values in-person collaboration while supporting flexibility to work anywhere in the United States. Employees in the tri-state (NY) area will work from HQ in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Those outside the tri-state area may join in-person collaboration sessions throughout the year, such as during team on-site events.
