This hybrid role focuses on the mechanical safety, compliance, and quality of Cosy heat pump installations, requiring a solid understanding of ASHP systems and heating integration. You’ll play a key role in ensuring installations carried out by third parties meet expected mechanical and technical standards, supporting complex queries, and helping to resolve escalations effectively You’ll act as a trusted technical point of contact between OTPs, technical design engineers, and wider Octopus Energy Services teams, ensuring issues are managed end-to-end and standards are upheld
Booking, coordinating, and carrying out health checks on Octopus Trusted Partner (OTP) ASHP installations
Assessing compliance with mechanical standards and best practice (e.g. G3, water regs, MCS, controls) alongside overall system integration
Acting as the primary point of contact for OTP technical queries, escalations, and aftercare issues
Supporting and managing mechanical safety or compliance escalations, ensuring timely and appropriate resolution
Working closely with technical design engineers, the wider Cosy heat pump team, and OES stakeholders to support OTP requests from initial query through to resolution
Providing clear, constructive feedback to partners following health checks, highlighting risks, improvements, and good practice
Supporting wider Cosy activity where required, including:
– Internal mechanical and technical support channels
– Product development and rollout projects
– Continuous improvement of assurance processes and standards
Strong mechanical background with experience in domestic installations (including heat pump experience)
Good working knowledge of ASHP systems and heating controls, including how mechanical and electrical systems interface
Experience working with installation partners, subcontractors, or field teams in a technical or assurance capacity
Confident handling technical discussions, non-conformances, and escalations
Organised, pragmatic, and solutions-focused, with strong attention to detail
Essential:
Recognised mechanical qualification (Level 3 NVQ in Plumbing and/or Heat Pump award)
Experience with heat pump installations
Desirable:
Water Regs & G3
Experience with other low-carbon technologies
F-Gas, MCS, or similar industry qualifications
Any electrical experience with heat pumps
