At HTTPie, we’re building tools for developers and rethinking the human-to-API relationship from first principles. As the creators of well-loved open-source API tools for the terminal, we’re on a mission to make APIs simple and intuitive for everyone—CLI-lovers and beyond. We’re building a platform that will solve problems that humans encounter throughout the entire API lifecycle, starting with a web and desktop version of HTTPie for API testing. We’ve raised a $6.5M Seed Round lead by Coatue, and now we’re building out our founding Engineering & Product Team—that’s where you come in.
What you’ll do
- Drive the development of our open-source projects like https://github.com/httpie/httpie (50K+ stars on GitHub)
- Implement features with uncompromising simplicity and top-notch user experience
- Write high-quality documentation, blog posts, and other technical content
- Respond to GitHub issues and pull requests
- Manage releases on various channels (PyPi, Homebrew, Linux, Windows, …)
- Contribute code and ideas to the overall platform
- Respond to questions on StackOverflow and Discord
You’ll be a great addition to the team if you have
- At least 5 years of software engineering and Python experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead the development of an open-source project
- Excellent English and technical writing skills
- Solid understanding of HTTP and modern APIs
- Passion for developer tools and sense for what makes them amazing
- Passion for simplicity and delightful user experience
- Good sense for when to choose a robust vs. minimal solution to move fast
- Ability to comfortably navigate the ladder of abstraction
- Eagerness to learn and share
