Responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced Advanced Physiotherapist with a background in musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions to join our remote healthcare team. In this role, you will deliver digital consultations and treatments for clients with a variety of MSK issues, providing expert advice and guidance to help them manage and overcome their conditions.
This service runs alongside other providers to ensure rapid triage when no GP referral has been made. The service has two purposes: helping patients manage their MSK condition independently through advice and guidance, and—when necessary—arranging referrals to appropriate, recognised clinicians or services.
Key duties include:
– Delivering high-quality telephone and video assessments
– Completing 30-minute appointments
– Providing diagnoses, prescribing self-management techniques, and making onward referrals
– Managing patient pathways and delivering the most appropriate clinical outcomes
– Assessing patient needs and offering appropriate support and advice
– Providing remote guidance on correct exercise techniques, injury prevention, and self-management strategies for MSK conditions
– Offering remote consultations to address patient questions, concerns, and progress updates, providing ongoing support and motivation throughout rehabilitation
– Staying up to date with advances in MSK physiotherapy practice and participating in continuing education to improve clinical knowledge and skills
– Maintaining a commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care and supporting patients’ overall health and wellbeing
Essential Requirements
– MSc postgraduate qualification in MSK Physiotherapy, or university-accredited postgraduate modules in MSK/Advanced Practice
– A relevant postgraduate module focused on the diagnostic nature of the APP service
– Up-to-date knowledge of personal clinical practice and the ability to maintain clinical competence
– Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
– 5 years’ post-graduate MSK experience, including at least 3 years in a senior MSK role
– Experience working in the NHS as an MSK Advanced Physiotherapist
– Evidence of postgraduate learning and advanced clinical skills (MSc level) in patient assessment and diagnostics, including developing treatment plans, with demonstrated achievement at Level 7 (MSc level) across all four pillars: clinical practice, leadership & management, education, and research
– Ability to order and interpret diagnostic tests
– Competence using telehealth platforms and EMR systems for remote consultations and documentation
– Experience conducting remote consultations and delivering virtual care is preferred
