Mobile Engineer

last updated February 27, 2021 10:03 UTC

NOTE: We are no longer accepting applications for this role as it has been filled 🙏

We are a team on a mission to creating the central platform for the mindfulness industry. We want to connect people interested in mindfulness with teachers, events, and courses, in order to bring together the mindfulness community both physically and digitally.

We are looking for an experienced mobile developer to join the team and help us launch the first iteration of our product.

Important note about timezones:

The founders and core team work in Australian Eastern Standard Timezone (AEST). While this position is remote and therefore offers flexibility, the mobile engineer will work closely with this core team – therefore we do require a significant portion of working hours to be compatible with AEST to allow for synchronous communication and to ensure work progresses quickly and smoothly, so we can all enjoy a good lifestyle.

Please ensure you are either located within +/- 4 hours from AEST or are interested in working hours that create a suitable overlap.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary package
  • Remote working conditions
  • Professional Development
  • Flexible working hours
  • Team retreats
  • We offer Visa sponsorship. If you would like to migrate to the East Coast of Australia and live an idyllic lifestyle in Byron Bay or Sydney, we would be happy to manage and cover the cost of that for you and your family.

Responsibilities

As part of the mobile engineer position you will be responsible for:
  • Building and launching a mindfulness app for our existing audience of 300,000 people.
  • Lead the mobile architecture for a content-heavy suite of apps.
  • Be able to choose the tooling/services that you think suit the task best.
  • Be provided with high-fidelity designs, that have been user-validated, to implement in the app.
  • Work closely with the backend engineers to design/improve the consumed web services.

Requirements

  • You are a mobile engineer who has experience creating world-class experiences for iOS (bonus for Android too).
  • You’ve taken mobile products from idea all the way through to a successful release and beyond.
  • You are passionate about mindfulness and have integrated it on some level into your own life.
  • You thrive in remote work environments; taking direction of your own work.
  • You have good software architectural abilities and views on maintaining high code standards.
  • You have a growth mindset towards learning new technologies.
  • You enjoy a good technical challenge and the flexibility of working in a small and focused team.

Technologies you’ve worked with

  • Experienced with Swift and Objective-C
  • Worked with Core Data extensively.
  • Comfortable setting up CI/CD and test builds for an iOS app
  • Unit testing frameworks for iOS
  • Bonus if you have built an app that consumes a GraphQL api.
  • Bonus if you have worked with audio/video streaming.
  • After the MVP release there will likely be an Android app with similar functionality.
