What You’ll Do
– Build seasonal assortments across footwear, apparel, and accessories that align with merchandising, editorial, and financial priorities—while meeting or exceeding sales and profit targets.
– Lead product and category strategies across all channels, growing the assortment to stay relevant to Complex customers.
– Stay highly informed on fashion, sneakers, music, sports, and broader cultural trends; ensure key trends are represented and test new ideas for commercial potential.
– Manage open-to-buy budgets and oversee sales forecasts, inventory, returns, margins, pricing, and overall category profitability.
– Review weekly and monthly results—including sales velocity, sell-through, TY/LY, inventory turns, product attributes, online availability, and markdowns—to find opportunities and reduce risk.
– Drive in-season performance through reorders, cancellations, markdowns, pricing changes, inventory adjustments, and “chase” opportunities; complete post-season analysis to strengthen future assortments.
– Maintain inventory levels, product availability, delivery schedules, and the flow of goods into internal systems across all channels.
– Ensure accurate and timely product setup, including SKU creation, purchase-order entry, pricing, costing, product details, and delivery tracking.
– Serve as an internal partner across Licensing, Merchandising, E-commerce, Marketing, Editorial, Operations, and Finance to align goals and execution.
– Build and sustain strong relationships with brands and vendors, supporting negotiations, exclusive product opportunities, licensing initiatives, and design collaborations.
– Work with Editorial, Marketing, and E-commerce teams to craft engaging product stories for the website, email, social media, content, and pop-up activations.
Who You Are
– 5+ years of buying or merchandising experience, ideally in footwear, streetwear, apparel, or multi-brand e-commerce.
– Strong retail math skills, including OTB, margin, markup, sell-through, inventory turns, and markdown strategy.
– Familiarity with the fashion calendar, market appointments, delivery timelines, and sneaker/streetwear launch and drop strategies.
– Deep knowledge of footwear, streetwear, fashion trends, and youth culture, with strong product instincts.
– Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, with experience managing budgets, reports, purchase orders, and product data.
– Strong vendor management, negotiation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
– Ability and willingness to travel for market appointments, trade shows, and brand meetings.

$85,000 – $100,000 per year
