Senior Mechanical Engineer – FEA – Bangalore, India

ABOUT THE POSITION
· Ensure the new product compliance to seismic requirements, shipping standards, Fatigue lifecycle study and other mechanical requirements (i.e., transportation loads, wind loads, lifting loads, internal pressure, ice & snow loading, etc.)
· Experience in structural design codes: EN 1993, ISO 1496, IBC-2018, ASCE 7-16, ASTM-D1469 and Convention for Safe Containers (CSC-1972).
· Iterate designs based on results from analysis, testing and provide solutions considering various aspects of engineering.
· Awareness of physical test requirement for seismic, sine-wave test and 3rd party stamping by licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
· Support and provide engineering improvement feedback on design, material selection, design options, failure implications, problem resolutions.
· Perform post-test correlations and corroborate the CAE model to test results
· Develop highly predictive models of materials, process, and functionality to match test results.
· Conduct optimization studies by utilizing optimization tools, including DOE /DFSS techniques on components, sub-assemblies, or on a product-level.
· Write detailed analysis reports for systems and/or components
· Interpret and communicate highly technical information to a diverse audience
· Develop, maintain, and coordinate changes on large assembly FEA models and results within PDM tool
· Manage external resources such as consultants or test labs in testing various aspects of the product such as environmental testing, seismic testing, and arc flash testing.
· Collaborate with other teams including Electrical Engineering, Software Development, Logistics, Procurement, Project Engineering, and Sales on ensuring successful deployments of Fluence products in large-scale energy storage projects.
· Present design solutions to key stakeholders, defending design decisions, incorporating design feedback into the design cycle.
· Demonstrate Fluence values.
· Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging creative problem-solving and experimentation within the R&D team.
What will our ideal candidate bring to Fluence?

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in technical discipline 5+ years of experience in structural designs, finite element analysis.
    • Or a master’s degree in engineering with 3+ years’ related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Proven experience with multi-disciplinary FEA methods including linear and non-linear solutions
    • Experience with seismic analysis and familiarity with IEEE693 and/or ASCE 7-22/IBC-2021 requirements
    • Basic knowledge in mechanical design, drafting and experience in Creo, software and SAP/Windchill PLM tool.
    • Expertise in SAP2000 structural analysis tool.
    • Experience in ANSYS WB & Space Claim tool is an added advantage.
    • Experience in Enclosures design, battery energy storage systems (BESS) is an added advantage.
    • Strong proficiency with ISO, ASME Y14.5-2018 drafting standards and GD&T skills
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent English verbal and writing skills and works with minimal supervision while being a collaborative team player. Possesses sound business judgment.
    • Comfortable working in a highly dynamic and changing environment and adapt to shifting customer priorities.
    • Good presentation skills.
    • Ability to travel up to 25% of time
