Countable is hiring researchers and writers to help summarize key legislation, identify trends in current legislation and news, and write for our blog and social channels. The job requires you to work on short deadlines on specific pieces that are either assigned to you or that you recommend yourself. We target an 8th grade reading level and require the work to be accurate, objective and highly engaging. These are not dry research pieces but quick, insightful reads.

Compensation: We pay hourly or per piece.

Countable is looking for a politically savvy legislative Analyst, Researcher and Promoter to join our team and ultimately help make government work.

The Legislative Researcher is focused on pulling together any and all applicable resources for a piece of upcoming legislation from the bill itself, to CBO estimates, to analysis and position papers. Your job is to synthesize that information and hand it off to our writers to summarize and post to Countable.

Responsibilities:

• Working under the Editor in Chief to source media related to impending congressional legislation
• Ability to quickly and effectively analyze a piece of congressional legislation and locate and cull media sources related to it
• Must have an expert understanding of how congressional legislation moves through—and between—both chambers
• Research background is a big plus, including internet research experience
• Ability to work in a time-sensitive, deadline-driven environment, flexible hours
• Should have experience with Google docs – drive
• Can work from home/telecommute

This is a part time contract position – pay is commensurate with experience and performance.
