We’re seeking a Legal Counsel to join our Markets and Regulatory Legal team. This position will primarily support our commercial operations in India and the broader APAC region, while also contributing to global projects. The role is based in Mumbai, India.

The Markets and Regulatory Legal Team works with a wide range of groups across the company, including Subscriptions, Ad Sales, Marketing, and R&D. As a Spotify lawyer, you will collaborate with business teams across APAC and, when needed, globally. Our products and agreements are constantly growing and changing, so you will play a key role in evaluating legal risks and providing creative, practical guidance.

What You’ll Do:
• Lead regulatory and compliance efforts for India and APAC, advising on industry regulations, tracking legal developments, and helping Spotify prepare for and navigate regulatory changes.
• Manage legal and government interactions, including answering regulatory inquiries, responding to government requests, handling enforcement matters, and supporting the Government Affairs team.
• Work with cross‑functional teams to guide product launches and market projects, ensuring adherence to relevant laws across India and APAC.
• Review, draft, and negotiate diverse commercial contracts, such as advertising, marketing, and partnership agreements that support Spotify’s business in the region.
• Improve standard agreements and legal processes to help us scale internationally while maintaining local relevance.
• Collaborate with business teams to explain legal concepts clearly and help integrate legal considerations into business strategies, including advising on risks, regulatory concerns, and governance.
• Work with global legal and business teams to stay aligned, share insights, and support company-wide initiatives.

Who You Are:
• A fully qualified lawyer with at least 5 to 7 years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal team.
• Skilled in providing legal advice across APAC jurisdictions, ideally including India.
• Experienced in regulatory matters, consumer protection, compliance, intellectual property, privacy, and other legal areas relevant to online services.
• Adept at handling a broad range of commercial agreements and offering practical, actionable guidance to business partners.

Where You’ll Be:
• This role is based in Mumbai.
• We offer flexibility so you can work where you are most productive. While some in‑person meetings are expected, remote work is also supported.
