About We’re looking for a talented software engineer to define and build our mobile API. A hands on role at a well funded early stage startup. You will be making all major architectural decisions, from programming languages and tools to deployment, performance tuning and scaling.

Responsibilities

• Ship backend code -Write clean, maintainable code that performs and scales well -Define and implement the system’s APIs, to support our mobile applications -Make important architectural decisions -Take ownership of key components, ensuring that they meet the needs of the business -Collaborate with iOS and Android developers, designers and producers to define, refine, prioritize and ship new features -Participate to the hiring process

Skills -Excellent Ruby on Rails programming skills -Strong experience with designing and building REST APIs -Expert in MySQL, PostgreSQL -NoSQL experience (Redis, Cassandra) -Strong understanding of scalable web architecture and technologies, particularly when applied for consumer/mobile applications -Load testing experience -Experience building and deploying on Amazon’s web services like EC2 and S3 -Experience with XML, JSON, HTML, and CSS -Ability to jump into a project and contribute immediately to both architecture and implementation -Distributed version control (Git) -Configuration management (Chef, Puppet, Ansible)

Bonus points -Experience developing messaging applications -Experience working with a team to ship products iteratively
