We are a team of agile, boundary-pushing problem-solvers who love to invent and improve. As a member of the database team, the Internal API Engineer will be responsible for managing access to our data layer. This entails controlling who has access to specific data, and how often they can access that data (which will likely include rate limiting rules). You will help build and manage an API layer on top of data located in our various data stores (Cassandra, MySQL, ElasticSearch, etc). The users of this API will be other Umbel team members and applications, so you will need to work with various departments to determine what data they need to access, and then configure the API to grant them that access. You’ll also work with the DBAs to determine if any API calls are putting excessive load on a particular database. You should be comfortable digging into various database platforms as well as working on the software supporting the API.
