Do not apply if you do not live in the United States. Direct hires only, no agencies. Do not apply if you are aprogrammer who can do some design, we want someone who specializes in interaction design.
Our internet-based technology company based in Phoenix and Orlando is looking for a full time U/I and U/X designer with strong CSS/JavaScript skills and an very strong eye towards modern interactive design to help us create a better user experience for our existing application.
Qualified candidates must understand and care deeply about the purpose of our proprietary application and various types of users that utilize this valuable tool. Each screen must be designed with the specific user and their needs and capabilities in mind, not in the candidate’s own personal design aptitude. Candidates must be able to express a Zen sense of minimalism that considers the necessity of every element on a page to determine whether each element directly contributes to achieving the goal of the page.
Candidates must push management to simplify the application versus management pushing them.
Candidates must be able to create usable interfaces for both experienced and one-time users and understand their needs are vastly different. Also, candidates must be able to build a U/I a user can use without little of no instruction and without confusion. Candidates must want to step-up and take ownership of the user interface and take pride in its successes and be willing to take responsibility for its weaknesses understanding the design will constantly evolve and must always improve.
Our company is looking to take our application to the ‘next level’ and we want a candidate who is self-managed and always pushing for progress without the need for constant supervision. As a leader of the design of this application, the candidate we select will be joining a team with two backend developers and a small sales staff. This candidate must be able to balance the requests from sales with the programmers ability to deliver features and functions that do not negatively impact the user experience.
Lastly, the ideal candidate should be the kind of person who could name famous designers in your field that you follow or want to emulate rather than the type who lives in a bubble of his own personal design ego. During the interview process, the candidates should be able to discuss their inspirational leaders and discuss what I is about them that impresses you most.
