The Senior Manager, Healthcare Payment Operations (internally: Senior Manager, Performance Economics) will help drive Aledade’s Practice Payments Excellence Initiative as the organization shifts to an automated payment processing system across all health plan contracts. Serving as the expert on contract payment terms, this role will provide essential guidance, including identifying required data fields for ingestion and developing logic for payment distribution calculations. The position will also be responsible for all payment reconciliation efforts to meet compliance and audit standards.
Candidates may work remotely from any location within the United States.
Primary Duties:
• Act as the subject matter expert in interpreting payer agreements and practice participation terms to ensure accurate calculation and distribution of care coordination fees, quality incentives, and other payments.
• Work with the Provider Network Operations team to create standard operating procedures, timelines, and workflows that document the full payment process. Contribute to mapping payment files, identifying necessary data fields, and defining payment calculation logic. Maintain reconciliation tools to evaluate contract performance and fulfill audit needs.
• Manage the receipt, validation, and processing of payments in accordance with contract terms. Coordinate with internal teams and payers to resolve discrepancies. Handle any payments that cannot be processed through automation.
• Collaborate with Accounting to ensure payments are properly categorized by contract, business line, and payment type.
• Provide visibility into payment distributions for field teams and deliver timely updates through dashboards or other communication methods.
• Assist in creating and implementing shared savings distribution formulas.
• Verify the accuracy of payments processed by the Data Analyst.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, health administration, public policy, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in healthcare business operations.
• At least 1 year of management experience.
• Proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong understanding of value‑based care and payer contract/payment models.
• Solid grasp of accounting principles related to payment reconciliation and accruals.
• Demonstrated ability to produce accurate documentation that meets external audit standards.
• Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and external partners.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast‑moving environment.
