About the Role
The Head of Legal is a senior leadership position overseeing all legal and regulatory matters across the company. This role requires strong leadership, deep legal expertise, and thorough knowledge of organizational policies and laws.
Stuart operates in France, the UK, and Poland, and also employs staff in Spain.
This hybrid role requires three days per week in the Paris office and reports to the VP of Finance.

What You Will Do
• Legal Oversight and Compliance:
a) Deliver expert legal guidance on employment, commercial, litigation, corporate, and regulatory issues.
b) Ensure compliance with national and international legislation, including employment law, data protection, and governance requirements.
c) Create and update internal legal policies in line with best practices.
d) Track legal and regulatory developments and advise leadership on needed changes.
• Risk Management and Dispute Resolution:
a) Spot potential legal risks and design mitigation strategies.
b) Manage legal disputes, investigations, and litigation with support from external counsel in each country.
c) Assist internal teams with employment law, compliance issues, and governance matters.
• Corporate Governance and Ethics:
a) Provide guidance on governance matters to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
b) Support senior leadership and the board with legal considerations tied to corporate decisions.
c) Conduct internal legal audits and implement best practices to strengthen compliance.
• Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication:
a) Partner with HR, Finance, and Operations to align legal work with business goals.
b) Clearly communicate legal policies and updates to company leaders and employees.
c) Serve as key contact for external counsel, authorities, and industry bodies. Manage the relationship with the external DPO supporting data protection.
• Contract Management and Negotiation:
a) Draft, review, and negotiate French contracts, including employment, vendor, partnership, and service agreements. Oversee English‑language contracts.
b) Ensure contracts protect the company and meet legal requirements.
c) Work with internal teams to evaluate the legal impact of business deals.
• Legal Team Management:
a) Lead the legal team, including one Legal Counsel based in Poland responsible for English contracts, the CLM tool, Polish legal matters, insurance, and marketing.
What We’re Looking For
• At least 7 years of qualified legal experience, including in‑house work.
• Proven ability to manage legal risk in a fast‑moving, international environment.
• Strong expertise in employment law, litigation, commercial contracts, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and data protection.
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally and provide strategic guidance with external counsel support.
• Fluency in French and English.
• Registered and qualified legal professional.
