The Government Affairs Operations Coordinator on the AFP Government Affairs team plays an essential role in advancing the team’s strategic goals. In this position, you will serve as the operational hub for the government affairs team, managing workflows, supporting compliance and logistics, and helping prepare written policy materials such as key vote alerts and scorecards.
You will collaborate with internal teams, outside partners, and compliance staff to ensure that our outreach to policymakers is accurate, efficient, and well-timed. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in public policy, excellent writing and organizational abilities, and the skill to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
How You Will Contribute
• Keep stakeholder and legislative databases current
• Coordinate logistics and scheduling for government affairs events, briefings, and team meetings
• Work with compliance staff to meet lobbying reporting requirements
• Write, edit, and distribute internal updates and briefing materials for leadership and government affairs staff
• Support data gathering and reporting for impact measures, legislative priorities, and network initiatives
• Prepare and format key vote alerts to communicate AFP’s stance on legislation
• Produce clean, professional one-pagers, presentations, and internal resources using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar tools
• Develop visual materials for policy events, such as signage, invitations, and branded items
• Simplify complex policy topics into clear, accessible visuals when necessary
What You Will Bring
• At least 2 years of experience in policy, government affairs, or political/nonprofit operations
• Strong organizational and project management abilities
• Experience with tools such as Microsoft Excel, Quorum, or CRM systems like Salesforce or Airtable
• Skill with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) or Canva
• Strong attention to design, layout, and detail
• Excellent communication abilities and the talent to turn ideas into compelling visual materials
• Comfort working on multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Enthusiasm for Stand Together’s vision and principles and a commitment to upholding a culture rooted in transformation, innovation, entrepreneurship, humility, and respect

The expected salary for this role is approximately $80,000 per year, though the final amount may vary based on experience, skills, and location. Eligibility is determined by the relevant plan documents and policies.
