About the role:
This position is responsible for developing, guiding, and implementing Kong’s global internal communications strategy. You will design communication methods, tools, and processes that reflect our values (COURAGE) and Leadership Principles. Your work will help create a unified, transparent, fast‑moving, low‑hierarchy, and engaging environment for all employees. You’ll collaborate closely with leadership, the People team, Marketing, and other key partners as the company grows and changes.
Key responsibilities:
Refine and carry out the global internal communications strategy, ensuring messaging is consistent, effective, and aligned with company values, culture, and objectives. Adapt communication approaches for different teams and regions as our global presence expands. Support senior leaders by advising on and developing clear communication plans for important messages, and help maintain strong connections between leadership and employees through regular updates and internal events. Build initiatives that boost employee engagement and reinforce company culture, including recognition programs, surveys, and feedback processes. Lead communication efforts during organizational changes or crises, ensuring transparency, timeliness, and consistency while offering thoughtful guidance through sensitive moments. Oversee the development of high‑quality internal content across email, intranet, newsletters, videos, and Slack, tailoring messages to specific audiences. Manage and improve internal communication channels to ensure effective message delivery across teams and locations. Establish and track key metrics to evaluate communication effectiveness and employee engagement, using insights to refine strategies. Partner with the People team to align communications with employee experience and organizational development efforts, including onboarding, DEI, and development programs. Support global teams with localized communication and help cultivate connection among remote and distributed employees. Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Education and experience:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field is a plus. 3+ years of experience in internal or corporate communications within a global company. Leadership experience is beneficial, ideally 3–5 years in a leadership role. Demonstrated success in building and executing internal communication strategies in fast‑paced, growth‑focused environments, ideally in tech.
Skills and expertise:
Strong knowledge of communication strategies and best practices across crisis communication, executive messaging, employee engagement, and organizational change. Excellent writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills, able to clearly and engagingly explain complex ideas. Ability to collaborate with and influence senior leaders, cross‑functional partners, and employees at all levels. Experience using communication platforms such as intranet systems, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, newsletters, and surveys. Strong leadership abilities, effective prioritization skills, and the capacity to manage multiple fast‑moving projects. High emotional intelligence and an understanding of organizational dynamics, with the ability to handle complex or sensitive topics. A global mindset, with experience supporting distributed teams and communicating across cultures and time zones.

Kong offers different pay ranges across U.S. locations to ensure competitive and consistent compensation. Salary varies based on factors such as location, skills, role, and experience. Some roles may qualify for additional incentives depending on program terms. Benefits vary by location, but U.S. employees typically receive healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, disability coverage, life and AD&D insurance, and more. The typical U.S. base salary range for this role is $210,000–250,000.
