Role Description This is a full-time, on-site General Laborer role based in Sydney, NSW. The General Laborer will support construction activities by performing a range of manual tasks, including site preparation, material handling, basic use of hand and power tools, and assisting tradespeople as required. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining a clean and safe worksite, loading and unloading materials, setting up and packing down work areas, and following instructions from site supervisors and project managers. The role also involves adhering to safety procedures, using personal protective equipment correctly, and helping with minor demolition, excavation, and site cleanup. The General Laborer will contribute to efficient project delivery by working reliably, collaborating with team members, and responding flexibly to changing site needs.

Qualifications

  • Experience in general construction labor, including site preparation, material handling, and basic tool use.
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety practices, including proper use of PPE and safe manual handling techniques.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and communicate clearly with supervisors and colleagues.
  • Physical capacity for manual work, including lifting, carrying, bending, and working on varied terrain and in outdoor conditions.
  • Strong reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail in completing tasks to required standards.
  • Basic knowledge of construction processes; experience on residential or commercial sites is an advantage.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transport to sites in Sydney, NSW.
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card) and any relevant trade or safety certificates are highly regarded.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, adapt to different tasks, and support a culture of quality and safety.
