Who are we?
Silverfin is a cutting-edge cloud software solution built by accountants, for accountants.
Founded in 2013, Silverfin was created to solve the frustrations of manual, error-prone processes in analysing financial data and compliance. From day one, we’ve been a cloud-first platform with an open API architecture, leveraging structured data to transform how accountants work.
Our mission is simple: to enhance and support the accountancy profession through AI and automation, ensuring accountants remain relevant and respected in the future of finance.
In 2023, Silverfin became part of the Visma Group, joining one of Europe’s leading providers of cloud software. Today, Silverfin is trusted by over 930 firms across 16 countries, including all of the Big 4 accounting firms and leading global networks like BDO, PKF, Baker Tilly, Grant Thornton, and Moore.
Headquartered in Ghent, with offices in London, Luxembourg, and Gouda (NL), we’re a team of over 180 people working together to drive innovation in accounting.
Role Description
As a Functional Analyst at Silverfin, you play a central role in translating the complexity of accounting, tax, and compliance frameworks into functional design that works at scale. You are the bridge between domain expertise and system implementation — ensuring that every workflow, calculation, and output in our platform reflects real-world accounting logic and complies with regional legislation.
You’ll partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Domain Experts to design, document, and validate the functional behaviour of Silverfin’s features and content. Your focus is on clarity, correctness, and consistency — ensuring that business requirements and regulatory standards are accurately reflected in the product, and that development teams have the precision and context they need to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Unlike Product Managers, you don’t own the roadmap or commercial prioritisation. Instead, your craft lies in understanding and defining how things should work. You analyse accounting processes, deconstruct regulations, and design logic that is scalable, auditable, and user-centred. By combining analytical rigour with domain fluency, you help Silverfin deliver products that accountants trust — because they’re built with accounting intelligence at their core.
Key Responsibilities

    • Analyse accounting, tax, and compliance requirements to define how they translate into product logic and workflows.
    • Design clear, structured functional specifications — including logic tables, data relationships, and process flows — that guide delivery.
    • Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and Domain Experts to refine requirements and ensure regulatory and functional accuracy.
    • Participate in validation and testing to confirm outputs are correct, compliant, and aligned to specifications.
    • Maintain documentation and ensure traceability from business requirements to functional design.
    • Monitor regulatory and legislative changes, assessing their impact on product functionality.
    • Share knowledge across teams and regions to promote consistency, standardisation, and reusability in functional logic.
    • Identify opportunities to optimise, automate, or simplify recurring workflows and templates.
    • Communicate progress and decisions clearly, ensuring alignment across product and delivery teams.
Your Profile

    • Proficiency in either Dutch or French as a native language is required; fluency in English is preferred.
    • Deep understanding of accounting, tax, or compliance principles and how they apply in practice.
    • Ability to interpret regional legislation and translate it into product behaviour and logic.
    • Awareness of differences in accounting standards across markets and their practical implications for users.
    • Educational background or professional experience in accountancy is required.
    • Interest in technology and cloud software solutions.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Excellent communication skills to interact with different teams and customers.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results on time.
    • Knowledge of Silverfin’s platform is a plus; motivation to quickly learn the software in depth is essential.
