What we are looking to do –
- We have some technical debt that we accumulated – blame it on inexperience, hurry to keep up with user-growth, adding more features, etc. Now we want to fix things and put a rock solid platform for future growth.
- Oh, and we cannot stop scaling, so we need to re-architect things while meeting demand-growth.
- And we also need to add new features, to keep our competitive edge.
You:
- Cringe when you look at bad code and bad practices. But instead of cribbing, you set things right, even educate others.
- Are a really strong developer, with 8-10 years of experience, including 4-5 years with PHP.
- Have experience with database / query tuning and performance.
- Polyglots get bonus points. Experience across different types of languages gets mega-bonus points. Open source contributors get a red-carpet welcome to the interview.
- Have experience working with a legacy system and then incrementally re-architecting things, adding tests, etc.
- Are disciplined about unit testing, continuous-integration and other good habits (honestly, we are not yet there and we’d like your help)
- Are a good communicator.
- Believe in data-driven decisions.
This is a full-time role, involving 40 hours/week. However, we are open to considering 30 hours/week.
