Important note: You’re likely about to discover the next great company to grow with long-term—and that’s exactly what we want!
We’re searching for a Frontend Developer with a background in entrepreneurship, software, and travel… but be warned:
We want someone bold, someone who can fully embrace our style and culture.
Your main mission is to transform designs into well-structured, lightning-fast websites.
This is a full-time remote role, whether you work from home or any place in the world that inspires you.
Your 10 main goals:
1. Work with design and product teams to turn UI/UX designs into functional web pages, landing pages, and Shopify-like (Liquid) templates.
2. Ensure smooth integration between front-end components and back-end services.
3. Optimize web pages for speed, scalability, and cross-browser compatibility.
4. Maintain the company website, including regular content and functionality updates.
5. Implement responsive designs that work flawlessly across all devices.
6. Build, update, and debug web pages, landing pages, and Shopify-like (Liquid) templates while ensuring clean, high-quality code.
7. Collaborate with marketing to incorporate SEO strategies and improve online visibility.
8. Review web analytics and work toward enhancing user experience and conversion rates.
9. Offer technical support and guidance to clients and internal teams.
10. Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and technologies.
Why join us?
The team is ambitious and genuinely great to work with, and the “office” is anywhere you want it to be—no physical location needed. You can work from any corner of the planet, and you’ll be contributing to a product that lets you sleep well at night.
If you’re dreaming about going to the moon, it’s still pricey… but we’d help you book a seat anyway.
It’s also an opportunity to:
* Play a key role in the growth of an ambitious company.
* Join a business that puts people at the center and genuinely impacts the lives of customers and their communities.
* Contribute to a culture that blends performance, ambition, and well-being—a culture so strong that our top performers wouldn’t consider leaving.
Smily is also:
* A cheerful team taking on a global market filled with outdated or uninspired competitors.
* The satisfaction of knowing your work makes life better for millions and helps them reach their dreams.
* The freedom to work from anywhere—by the pool, in the forest, or at your standing desk.
* A fully remote culture from day one, always exploring new ways to keep remote work warm and engaging, including challenges like sports or meditation.
* A culture built on autonomy.
* A team of A-Players.
* A guarantee that you will be pushed to grow.
* A fast-growing company full of development opportunities.
And on top of that, we prioritize team well-being:
* Flexible work locations: choose where you feel happiest and most inspired—whether that’s the best kitesurfing spots or close to family.
* Flexible hours: what matters most is the value you bring, not the number of hours you log, though we do expect moments of communication and teamwork.
* You’re your own boss: we work as partners, based on shared commitment—not obligation.
* Team building and retreats: we gather in beautiful destinations to connect, celebrate wins, and plan exciting new challenges.
Ideal profile:
This is for you if you:
* Have at least 3 years of experience in web development and integration.
* Are skilled in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Knowledge of frameworks like React or Angular is a bonus.
* Have experience with RESTful APIs and JSON.
* Know how to use Git or other version control tools.
* Understand UI/UX principles and responsive design well.
* Know SEO best practices and web analytics tools.
* Have excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
* Communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally.
An interest in short‑term rentals or coaching is a big plus.
We currently have a balanced team (50/50 men and women) and aim to stay inclusive and diverse.
Languages:
* French: fluent
* English: fluent, as all internal communication is in English and your work must be fully manageable in English.
But this might not be for you…
We’re not looking for someone who just wants a “job.” Our culture is built on performance and ambition.
We aim to do what few companies dare—create something exceptional and impact as many lives as possible.
Some may assume this means a low-pressure environment, but we’re very startup‑oriented: fast‑paced, constantly changing, and not always giving step-by-step instructions.
We speak openly, even when it’s uncomfortable. We value growth over ego, and we prize clear, honest feedback. Disagreement and strong reasoning are appreciated here.
We promote critical and strategic thinking. We challenge assumptions, stay aware of biases, and focus our energy where it matters most.
If you take criticism personally, or if you’re not ready to receive—and give—regular feedback to grow, this won’t be the right fit.
We know this environment isn’t for everyone.
But if this resonates with you, we’ll love working together—and you’ll be fully supported. Come help us write the next chapter.
Interview process – How to apply
Any copy‑paste, non‑personalized application goes straight to the trash.
To complete the process, candidates may need to arrange calls with former managers. If that makes you uncomfortable, don’t apply.
To apply:
Fill out a short questionnaire by clicking “Apply for this position,” and attach your CV. We won’t review incomplete applications.
In the early days, Google did 12 interviews. Apple still does 9 to 12. We do 4.
Some think that’s a lot, but for us it’s the right balance to ensure this role truly fits you. We want to prevent the situation where, months later, you or we realize it wasn’t the right match.
The recruitment process:
* A quick 7–8 minute questionnaire.
* A 60‑minute technical interview to review expectations and evaluate your skills.
* A 60‑minute culture interview via Zoom or phone to understand your background and confirm cultural alignment.
* A 60‑minute team interview with your future teammates to ensure you’ll enjoy working together.
* Reference calls: you may be asked to set up at least 3 calls with former managers or clients. This helps guarantee that you, and the team, are surrounded by top performers and also helps us support your onboarding.
* Welcome aboard!
