We are an established e-commerce agency in Vancouver, looking for someone to build web site front-ends according to detailed specifications. You will be given wireframes, style guides, and all the graphics you need. Must understand how to develop responsive front-ends.
Since it’s a new position, we’re looking to try it out for 3-4 months at 25 hours per week, until the position and the person prove beneficial to the team.
The Essentials:
- Expert in HTML / CSS / jQuery
- Ajax experience
- Experience with building UIs in Rails, and the Asset Pipeline
- Experience with building UIs in PHP
- Great problem solver (there are often more than 1 ways to solve an UI issue, and knowing the pros and cons of each way would be ideal)
- Excellent communication skills
Bonuses/Great to have:
- Understands responsive design (CSS media queries, fluid grids)
- Understands the difference of responsive design and adaptive design (responsive = CSS magic to optimize usability on the front-end but still over 1 CSS file, adaptive = serving different templates to different devices for an optimal experience)
- Spree commerce experience
- WordPress UI dev experience
- Lemonstand UI dev experience
- Have SCSS or LESS experience (benefits of using mixins)
- Knowledge in cross-browser compatibility
