Insider is looking for a fellow who wants to help us tell fascinating, informative, and agenda-setting stories about science.
You should be interested in covering a breadth of topics such as archeology, animals, human evolution, NASA, SpaceX, climate change, and much more. You will report to Insider’s science editor.
You should be a self-starter who has a passion for finding and telling great stories. We value flexibility, creativity, accountability, and a diversity of ideas and opinions. We want someone who is excited about our mission to get better every day.
You will file breaking news, as well as news analysis and features. You should be comfortable handing a mixture of stories, working on tight deadlines, pursuing ambitious reporting, and juggling multiple responsibilities at one time.
The ideal science fellow should:
Demonstrate excellent news judgment
Understands how to read and evaluate scientific studies, talk to experts, and then frame stories to appeal to a broad, mainstream audience.
Be able to write a mix of articles, including short news posts, visual features, and deeply reported pieces
Be very organized and able to effectively communicate across teams

The Insider Fellowship Program is for early career journalists who want to spend six months learning from a newsroom full of passionate, dedicated journalists. Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling. They produce real work that is distributed to our audience of millions, and by the end of six months are prepared for the next phase of their journalism careers.
