OVERVIEW
The CDC Foundation is seeking a Chronic Disease Epidemiologist to support the Office of Statistics and Evaluation (OSE) within the Bureau of Community Health & Prevention (BCHAP) of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The Epidemiologist will provide epidemiologic support to programs in the Division of Community-based Prevention and Care (DCBPC). Working closely with the Office of Community Health Workers, the Asthma Prevention and Control Program, the Community Health Alignment Program, and other DCBPC programs, this role will help meet data, surveillance, and evaluation needs and priorities. Key duties include performing analyses using clinical and population-based surveillance data, supporting program evaluation implementation, preparing reports and other data communication materials, assisting with grant deliverables and related requirements, and providing additional support as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· MPH in epidemiology or biostatistics
· At least two (2) years of relevant experience conducting epidemiologic work or in a closely related field
· Strong knowledge of epidemiologic study design and statistical methods
· Experience analyzing data using SAS and/or R
· Experience with program evaluation design and implementation
· Experience using a range of statistical methods, including multivariate linear and logistic regression
· Experience with public health data collection, including designing data collection tools
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Strong attention to detail and process
· Demonstrated ability to adjust to changing priorities
· Experience with chronic diseases is preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Help develop and implement evaluation and analysis plans for the Office of Community Health Workers, the Asthma Prevention and Control Program, the Community Health Alignment Program, and other programs within DCBPC.
· Perform epidemiologic and statistical analyses using SAS and/or R across clinical and population-based datasets, including hospital discharge data, mortality data, BRFSS, YRBS, YHS, and Community Health Equity Survey.
· Support program and epidemiology staff with division-wide grant activities and deliverables, including data collection, analysis, and grant reporting.
· Consult with other epidemiology staff on appropriate statistical methods and the interpretation/limitations of analyses.
· Support communications for a range of stakeholders, including preparing reports and creating data visualizations.
· Support other DCBPC, BCHAP, and OSE priorities, strategies, and initiatives as needed.
Special Notes:
This role supports a fast-moving public health program, so duties and responsibilities may change as needs evolve. The responsibilities described above may be expanded or updated after written approval from both the CDC Foundation and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to best support Massachusetts public health programming.
This position is currently hybrid. The CDC Foundation may adjust this as needed
