Newsweek is looking for an experienced Entertainment Reporter to join our U.S. team.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable reporting on and writing about U.S. television and celebrity culture. Reporters must be able to source, pitch, and write multiple stories each day while adhering to established journalistic standards and meeting the demands of a fast-paced newsroom.

We want writers who can identify cultural trends and craft engaging stories about what they mean and why they matter. This team will be less focused on publishing reviews of the latest streaming series and more focused on the key talking points, controversies, and fan communities that emerge around breakout shows.

Team members should be able to place news events into a broader context and also anticipate how the news cycle around a particular subject will unfold. Reporters are expected to regularly deliver stories with distinctive angles that stand out in a crowded, competitive field.

Role and responsibilities:
– Pitch unique, timely stories every day that keep Newsweek at the forefront of the day’s culture conversation.
– Monitor social media to find and identify stories and topics of interest for a U.S. audience.
– Respond to breaking news.
– Verify facts and sources to ensure content is accurate, fair, and of the highest possible standard.
– Collaborate with editors to ensure your work follows Newsweek’s style guidelines.

Requirements:
– At least three years of journalism experience.
– Experience in original reporting.
– Ability to cover stories across a range of topics (film, TV, music, celebrities, etc.).
– Strong writing skills and the ability to produce polished copy under tight deadlines.
– Familiarity with using social media and Google Trends.

Salary expectations: $60,000–$70,000
