About the Role
The Athletic is now accepting applications for its Engineering Internship Program. Our goal is to identify and cultivate the next generation of industry talent. This 12‑week remote internship runs from June 2, 2025, to August 22, 2025. Interns will join one of our Engineering teams and gain exposure to all aspects of their work. Each intern will collaborate closely with a full‑time engineer on a team‑designed project, with support throughout the process to help bring features and projects into production.

This position pays $30.00 USD per hour and is fully remote for candidates based in the United States or Canada.

Responsibilities
• Work on projects assigned by a mentor or team members
• Collaborate with Engineers on project development
• Write clean, maintainable code
• Debug and resolve issues
• Learn and apply new tools, technologies, and frameworks as needed
• Participate in team meetings and stand‑ups
• Potentially work with Product, Design, and other cross‑functional teams

Requirements
• Open to current undergraduate students (ideally juniors or seniors), recent graduates, and recent bootcamp graduates
• Must live in the United States or Canada and be able to work 30–40 hours per week
• Strong preference for experience with JavaScript
• Experience with any of the following is helpful but not required:
– ReactJS
– Apollo GraphQL
– AWS (Dynamo, S3, etc.)
– Git/GitHub
– PHP
• Interest in sports is a bonus but not required
• Most importantly, bring enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
