Role & Responsibilities
• Build polished, end‑to‑end user‑facing features, from database design to UI components.
• Create scalable, generalized systems for workflows such as billing, document creation, tasks, and customer communication.
• Improve the performance of our GraphQL backend to help movers complete jobs quickly.
• Add real‑time capabilities to our notifications and communication systems.
• Contribute to our early design system to help shape how we build UI components.
• Open‑source internal frameworks used to rapidly build applications.
• Write and review code.
• Produce architecture documentation and handle design handoffs.
• Participate in product scoping and brainstorming if you’re interested.
• Join design reviews and ideation sessions if desired.

Competencies
Backend:
• Strong understanding of relational databases
• GraphQL
• Python/Flask
• AWS Lambdas
• Basic understanding of e2e, integration, and unit testing

Frontend:
• React
• React Native
• GraphQL
• Frontend testing

Skills & Experience
• You have 2–5 years of experience at a relevant product‑focused tech company, ideally with 1–2 years at an early‑stage startup.
• You strongly believe in our mission and in improving the moving experience.
• You approach problems with curiosity and empathy, always seeking to understand the customer’s perspective.
• You are comfortable with constant change and willing to propose and lead improvements.

Our Tech Stack
• React and React Native apps using Apollo GraphQL, Styled Components, and hooks for UI and navigation.
• A shared design system used across all client apps.
• Flask backend with a high‑performance GraphQL layer built on Graphene.
• Redis for async tasks and external system interactions.
• AWS infrastructure using Lambdas, ECS, and Dynamo.
• CI/CD pipeline that tests all pull requests and supports multiple deployments per day.
• Internal processes powered by Notion, Slack, Zoom, and GitHub.

Why this role
• You’ll have significant ownership within your first three months. Expect to contribute in your first 30 days and own multiple features by day 90.
• You’ll work with a modern tech stack: Python/JS, React, React Native, GraphQL, Flask, Postgres, AWS.

Pay Range
Software Engineer I: 90,000–140,000 USD
Software Engineer II: 120,000–170,000 USD
