Piton Labs is hiring a full-time Senior Software Engineer. We’re looking for someone who can cover multiple layers of the software development stack, with a strong preference for candidates who excel in backend development. You must have solid experience with cloud infrastructure. Experience in a startup environment—through personal projects or work at early-stage companies—is a plus. We strongly prefer candidates based in a time zone between GMT-8 (US West Coast) and GMT-3, but we may consider other time zones depending on the situation.

## Responsibilities and Technology

At Piton Labs, you’ll work with both startups and established organizations to tackle their most challenging technical problems. You’ll operate in a high-uncertainty, high-complexity software development environment, helping clients build their products by focusing on what truly needs to be built. You won’t just follow a predefined task checklist—you’ll help shape priorities so effort goes toward solving the most important problems for clients.

We don’t tie ourselves to a specific technology stack, but most client projects use TypeScript, React, and Go. We typically rely on AWS for cloud infrastructure, though some clients may use other providers. You should have at least 5 years of experience building in one or more large web application development environments, including relational databases and modern frontend frameworks. Familiarity with our preferred tools is helpful but not required. You must be able to continuously write reliable, well-tested code.

A typical week may include:

– Building advanced user interfaces for web or mobile applications
– Designing and developing a “service-free” API layer for new web products
– Creating and delivering cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code tools
– Presenting new features to relevant client stakeholders

## Ideal Candidate Profile

You’re independent, proactive, and passionate about building software. You enjoy solving problems and continuously improving your technical skills. Key traits include:

– Practical mindset: focus on solving problems and delivering value; apply creativity when needed
– Self-driven: take ownership of a product or feature while understanding both technical and human factors
– Deep experience: 5+ years across a range of project types, with ongoing improvement over time
– Adaptability: grow with technology rather than limiting yourself to a single specialization

## Remote Work Policy

– Our team is fully remote with no physical office
– We prefer candidates within the United States who have legal authorization to work
– Secondary preference for candidates from Canada, Uruguay, or Paraguay
– This role requires 4–6 hours of daily availability during US Eastern Time
– We welcome digital nomads; your location can be flexible

## Why Join Us?

– Competitive compensation: $140,000/year for candidates in the US
– Quarterly bonuses tied to company profits, typically $2,500–$5,000
– 4 weeks of paid vacation
– Full-time remote work
– Strong work-life balance—you’ll work with fast-growing teams without sacrificing weekends
– Flexible culture: fewer meetings and more trust-based collaboration centered on your ability to deliver
