As the EHS Director, you will help drive Mom’s Meals’ success by ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Department of Transportation regulations, preventing incidents, and managing post‑injury processes. Reporting to the Vice President of Technical Services, you will create, implement, and continually refine programs within the EHS Management System, ensuring adherence to all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety requirements as well as internal standards. The ideal candidate is an expert in employee and motor vehicle safety and adept at establishing processes that deliver long-term improvements in Environmental, Health, and Safety performance. This role also requires building strategic awareness and strengthening the company’s safety culture across all locations.
Position Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Lead environmental health and safety efforts across the organization
• Meet annual goals for Recordable Incident Rate, Lost Time Incident Rate, and Incident Severity Rate
• Oversee completion of the companywide annual EHS training plan
• Manage the internal safety audit program for all sites
• Evaluate incident trends and apply risk‑assessment methods to identify continuous improvement opportunities that reduce injuries, illnesses, and environmental impacts
• Lead incident investigations using root cause analysis to ensure corrective actions address system-level causes
• Ensure effective implementation of EHS Management System elements across Operations and Engineering; develop procedures, inspections, trainings, and reports as needed
• Review equipment and facility designs, from machine guarding to chemical processes, and provide input on EHS implications, including Industrial Hygiene, Fire Safety, Chemical and Process Safety, Hazardous Materials, and relevant NFPA/ANSI/ASTM standards
• Coach and support other EHS team members
• Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations and internal standards
• Lead company emergency preparedness and response planning
• Serve as a primary liaison with regulatory agencies such as OSHA and EPA
• Communicate safety and health matters to Senior Management
• Oversee the EHS program budget
Required Skills and Experience:
• More than 10 years of EHS experience, including at least seven years in EHS management
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations at the local, state, and federal levels
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build effective relationships
• Proficient computer skills, including MS Office applications
• Strong leadership abilities with a focus on driving positive outcomes
• Ability to partner with stakeholders in decision‑making processes
• Demonstrated initiative, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving skills
• High level of care and concern for team members
• Ability to work more than 40 hours per week, including occasional off‑shift hours
• Ability to travel up to 30 percent
Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, or a related field
• EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements:
• Repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements
• Primarily sedentary work with extended periods of sitting
• Sufficient visual ability to perform job duties, including peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
