Summary of Position:
We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join the Scholar Rock Finance Team to lead the global tax function.
Position Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive tax planning strategies, including structuring for efficient partnership and corporate tax of our businesses domestically and abroad
    • Establish strategies to optimize businesses with regard to federal, state, and indirect taxes
    • Actively manage relationships with third-party tax advisors to synthesize and achieve balance between in-house and external tax support
    • Oversee completion of federal, international, state and local tax filings, including all related analysis and support
    • Monitor changes in tax laws, regulations and enforcement that may impact tax positions, including tax accounting implications
    • Manage all tax projects including due diligence, tax impacts of new locations, products and/or services, and all tax studies
    • Ensure appropriate internal controls related to tax matters are in place and operating effectively
    • Support establishment and maintenance of formal tax policies, practices and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP and applicable tax regulations
    • Prepare and ensure compliance of timely payments of company state and local income tax across multiple jurisdictions, including estimated payments and extensions
    • Manage audits, notices and enquiries received from federal and state tax authorities
    • Drive implementation of system improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
Candidate Requirements:

    • Minimum master’s degree in Tax or Law Degree with 10+ years of relevant tax experience.
    • Candidate must be effective at both written and verbal communication, with the ability to pursue self-development and excel within our team approach
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel and Outlook
    • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and time management skills
    • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local corporate income tax, sales/use and property tax
    • A collaborative team player, able to partner with internal and external contacts at all levels.
    • Industry experience in life science and manufacturing sectors is preferred
    • A mix of experience with public accounting and multinational corporate environment
    • Ability to think strategically, maintain focus on key issues, and translate complex problems into an appropriate analytic framework
    • Successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual, able to achieve high impact in a fast-growing biotech startup
    • CPA or equivalent
