Scholar Rock is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to discovering, developing, and delivering transformative treatments for people with serious conditions that lack effective therapies. As a global leader in the biology of the transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ) family of cell proteins—and named for the resemblance between protein structures and scholar rocks—the company focuses on pioneering therapies driven by protein growth factors. Over the past decade, it has built a pipeline aimed at raising the standard of care in neuromuscular disease, cardiometabolic disorders, cancer, and other areas where targeting growth factors may have a profound impact.
Scholar Rock is the only company to demonstrate clinical proof of concept for a muscle-directed treatment in spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Its commitment to developing fundamentally different therapeutic approaches is fueled by broad use of a proprietary platform that has created novel monoclonal antibodies capable of modulating protein growth factors with remarkable selectivity. By applying advanced science in disease areas historically underserved by traditional treatments, Scholar Rock works to open new possibilities for patients.
