Who We Are:
At Emburse, you’ll not just imagine the future – you’ll build it. As a leader in travel and expense solutions, we are creating a future where technology drives business value and inspires extraordinary results. Our AI-powered platform helps organizations modernize financial operations, increase visibility, and optimize spend across the enterprise.
The Director of IT Business Systems is a hands-on, strategic leadership role responsible for owning and scaling Emburse’s core go-to-market (GTM) business systems, with Salesforce as the central hub. This leader will align business processes, systems architecture, and execution to enable efficient, scalable growth across Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Customer Success.
This role is intended to be hybrid, with an expectation of three days per week in the office once a Burlington-area office location is established. Until then, the role will operate remotely, with priority given to candidates who are based in the Greater Boston area and able to commute to Burlington long term.
This is a player/coach role — you will lead a team while remaining deeply involved in Salesforce administration, integrations, and architectural decision-making.
What You Will Do
- Own Salesforce as the system-of-record and hub for all GTM systems, including Salesforce CPQ, marketing automation, finance, and customer support platforms.
- Provide hands-on Salesforce leadership, including configuration oversight, data model decisions, automation, and platform health.
- Lead and govern all Salesforce and Salesforce CPQ integrations, ensuring scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Business Process & Transformation Leadership
- Own and continuously improve end-to-end Lead-to-Cash processes, including Lead, Opportunity, Quote, Contract, Billing, and Revenue.
- Partner with stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Product, and IT to translate business transformation initiatives into scalable system solutions.
- Balance speed, flexibility, and compliance while enabling revenue growth.
- Establish and enforce governance for system changes, integrations, and tooling requests.
- Evaluate and prioritize new integration requests, holding the line against unnecessary complexity and technical debt.
- Ensure systems align with security, compliance, and data privacy requirements (e.g., SOX, GDPR).
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing Business Systems team (administrators, developers, analysts).
- Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, operations, and digital transformation teams.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and executives across the organization.
What You Bring
- 10+ years of experience in business systems, enterprise applications, or process transformation roles.
- Hands-on Salesforce experience at an administrator, architect, or equivalent level (Salesforce certifications strongly preferred).
- Proven experience owning Salesforce as a hub-and-spoke architecture supporting multiple integrated GTM systems.
- Deep understanding of Lead-to-Cash business processes.
- Experience working with Salesforce CPQ and complex system integrations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and set clear boundaries.
- Demonstrated player/coach leadership style.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating Salesforce with financial systems (NetSuite strongly preferred).
- Marketing systems experience (Marketo or similar).
- Experience in a high-growth SaaS or tech-enabled services environment.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOX, GDPR, and data privacy requirements.
- Experience leading enterprise-wide system or business transformation initiatives.
