Who are we and what do we do?

Subtext Media is establishinga new platform to build community. A mashup of an online media site and a marketplace, we’ve also got a local events calendar, classifieds, services directories with recommendations and portals for our different customers.

Who are you?

We’re looking for a great team member to support and grow our technical infrastructure.

Ideally, you’d be local to our beautiful Upper Valley located on the border between Vermont and New Hampshire where we’d welcome you to our fancy new offices. If you’re not within a daily commute (we’re about 100 miles northwest ofBoston), we’ll entertain remote as long as you’re in our timezone and can work online with our team via Slack, Trello and Github. We’d ask you to travel to our offices (at our expense) once a quarter so we can get everyone face-to-face for some team buildingand planning.

Key responsibilities:

• Troubleshooting Web Software problems along with developers

• Securing servers against intrusion

• Scaling web server resources

• Programming server configuration

• Managing, tuning and protecting multiple databases (MySQL, NoSQL, Triple Stores)

• Implementing our backup and disaster recovery strategies

• Creating Unix Shell Scripts for deployment, utilities, monitoring and automated recovery

• Staying up to date with new trends in the DevOps industry

• Being aware of new security threats to software running our servers (Linux, Databases, e.t.c)

• Automated deployment of multiple servers weekly

• Maintaining NGINX configuration for multiple environments
