Who We’re Looking For We value clean, smart design. And we’re looking for someone deeply interested in the convergence of tech, design, and complex data made simple. We want self-starters with a strong aesthetic sense for minimalist design and a passion for fusing lifestyle identity with technology through the careful selection of font, photography, and copy. You need to have both a strong aesthetic sense as demonstrated by your portfolio and the ability to deliver on that aesthetic through front-end development. Print experience also preferred as our app links the manual/paper world with digital.

What You’ll Do • Develop UI/UX workflow diagrams • Lead design upgrades across the application (flat to implement) • Iterate on designs based upon team feedback • Implement on site via CSS/HTML5 • Oversee consistency of design in emails, blogs, and related materials

Skills You’ll Need • Strong portfolio that demonstrates a clean, minimalist aesthetic • Print design portfolio that matches the web aesthetic • Demonstrated frontend CSS/HTML5 skills for implementation • Ideal but not required is a familiarity with video via Camtasia, Audacity, and After Effects • Strong familiarity with d3js, Leaflet.js, Mapbox required

First Mile Geo is a tech startup that aims to make data simple and accessible to users in emerging markets. Our tool is designed to let non-technical users collect data through a variety of means, visualize it through maps, dashboards, and indices, and monitor changes through alerts and automated reporting. We combine data collection, mapping, visualization, and basic statistics all in one app, and push the resulting analysis back to users online and offline.
